Meta has ended its partnership with Kenya-based contractor Sama, which was training its generative AI models using footage from Ray-Ban smart glasses, resulting in the layoff of 1,108 workers.
Sama employees revealed they reviewed highly sensitive recordings â including banking details, private conversations, people in bathrooms, and intimate moments â often captured without the subjectsâ knowledge.
While Meta states its terms of service require explicit permission for AI mode, workers reported being placed under tighter security as the company searched for whistleblowers.

Security researchers at Theori have publicly released exploit code for a critical Linux vulnerability called CopyFail (CVE-2026-31431), allowing regular users to gain full system control on most Linux versions.
